Antique clock Workshop

At The Clock Workshop in Reading we research, design and manufacture all missing movement parts in keeping with the original. While we have appropriate clockmakers' and watchmakers' lathes, most of the work is done by hand in our own workshop.

Clock making and repairing is an old art and our workshop practices are inherited from years of experience garnered by the thousands of clockmakers that have gone before us. We have particular experience in finishes that are in keeping with current thoughts on conservation and are happy to discuss these in combination with our clients' wishes.

Broad knowledge of traditional and modern clocks

While we specialise in Antique Clocks, we have a broad knowledge of modern mechanisms, including 20th Century ‘grandmother’ clocks and quarter chiming mantle clocks. We also handle quartz mechanisms.  We will only repair or restore mechanisms which we can fully guarantee.

Our cabinetmakers and dial restorers have many years of experience and are able to cover all aspects of restoration, including fretting, brass furniture and boulle work. We are also able to repair chips in marble and slate clocks.

The Clock Workshop specialises in Marine Chronometers and is able to replace broken or missing detents and jewels.
