John Yealland has over 50 years' experience in horological restoration.

We have sometimes made clocks to order and are happy to discuss a commission.

We have had a deal of fun over the years, handling both important mechanisms and finding one or two previously undiscovered treasures that are now in the British Museum.
What we enjoy most of all is rescuing clocks that are thought to be beyond repair and are destined for the scrap heap. Sometimes they arrive in over a hundred pieces or more with the owner absolutely sure that nothing can be done with them. It is wonderful to see such an item restored to its former glory and ready to give service into the 22nd Century and beyond.
Being in the media doesn’t necessarily make you good at your job, but we have been featured on local radio and several BBC2 Programmes.

Worldwide care

Our catchment area is mostly in the Thames Valley from Newbury to the City. However, we have clients from Scotland and most areas of the United Kingdom. Internationally we welcome clients from Switzerland, America and even as far as Malaysia and Japan. Having been in business since 1981, we have built up relationships with local customers that go back many years and who have become good friends.

We currently manage all the clocks in the South of England for the Royal Bank of Scotland, including Coutts and Childe & Co.

We are one of the few firms left in the 21st Century who wind clocks on a weekly basis for households in our immediate area.

My sincere thanks to The Clock Workshop for its excellent service and for restoring my carriage clock, which has worked perfectly ever since. Having tried several other clock repairers, I had almost given up hope - my faith in craftmanship has been restored!
